Veg box

As the veg patch is rather limited at the moment, I’ve been finding solace in a veg box instead. I know, I know, I should go and suffocate myself with a recycling bag for being so middle aged/class, but it’s genius. It costs a tenner, and arrives full of seasonal organic fruit and veg – with mud still clinging to it! Mud, for those of you for whom it may be only a distant memory looks a bit like chocolate but tastes much nastier, and can be found underneath grass.  No, not that sort of gra… oh never mind.

Anyway, the best part is that if you get one every week / fortnight you can have ‘fun with soup’ or ‘fun with smoothies’ the day before it arrives. This is where you liquidise whatever’s left of last week’s box so that when the new one comes you don’t have mouldy veg sitting in the fridge which will then never get eaten.

My favourite smoothie so far was made by pulverising 2 bananas, an apple, some orange juice and a few ice cubes. Bloody marvellous.
